Re: Anyone catching?
Lots of tarakihi and gurnard still still around Pepin island and snapper still out at 30 meters in front of Delaware bay.
Ruby bay is full of snapper from 8 meters onwards - bagged out in 40 minutes - tide seems to be key out there with an incoming being best - 2 hours before high tide.

Productive morning out ruby bay this morning, hit it at 4.30 and out to the depth at 4.45 and straight into action, 2 hours of fun with my wife and.
Trevelly a welcome bycatch but home with 15 snapper, family and friends fed and fun tank filled.
Home before 8 and snapper for lunch =)

Now I know it's not from a kayak but this is my first land based kingi =) caught in the channel between rabbit island and Mapua, just legal. Where's everyone else's fishy pics, you all must be catching something as there's plenty of fish. More big blue cod around Pepin island this year and even the ...

Re: Cable Bay of recent
Hi ranson. I was pretty close in. In around 4 mtr of water. Just got to find a bit of structure/feature out there. Where do you launch to fish the back beach at tahunanui? Any tips for fishing there? Cheers. I launch down beside the motor camp, I think it's parkers road, I would fish the hole in ri...

Re: Tarakihi
Tarakihi can be found around the seaward third of the island in reasonably close to the steep faces etc - particularly in winter. You have to be just on the right spot with Tarakihi. Cheers Mike. When are you getting out next? You tried that new kayak yet? I got some 30 cm tarakihi the other day fr...

The kayaks that are sold come from a factory so this one is a shop model, this is not what my bros is like it has the rod holder complete. Amazing kayaks despite this show kayaks missing parts

Re: Cable Bay of recent
Saw a couple of kingis when I was out ruby bay smashing the bait fish in my berly trail, only prob is that the family doesn't like kingi so focus on the edibles. Sounds like a good time at jackets minus the fish =p. Are you Mot based Pete? Yeah am going to hit the channel again in the morning, heard...

Re: Yaks for young teens: Mission Catch 290 vs something more 'serious'?
Torpedo 7 has 3.7 meter yaks on sale at moment for 700, good kayak with fishing capabilities also The 'fishing' kayaks I saw at Nelson Torpedo 7, had holes cut in the deck with loosely fitting cover caps as 'rod-holders'. Looked like lot's of potential for water ingress IMO. If the OP is looking fo...

Re: Rigging a Scrambler 11 - Noob needs inspiration
If you are short on cash you do not need much. If I remember correctly these should have two rod holders already behind the seat, this is all I use and I am catching plenty of fish. Make your own leashes with some shark clips used to make long line long rigs and some rope. Go to a second hand shop a...
