18-19/01 Motuora Island Overnighter

So Barry flicks me a quick txt on Friday morning asking if I wanted to do an overnighter on Motuora Island. Yes, yes I do. So we headed out at 6:30am Saturday morning in pristine conditions - minus The Mayor, who was at a yoga retreat, and Mitch who was M.I.A. An hour later we landed and scrambled t...

Dredging the Rangitoto Channel

https://www.scoop.co.nz/stories/PO1912/S00104/cabinet-should-agree-tomorrow-to-move-port.htm Looks like the Auckland City Council plan to dredge 2.5 million tons of the Rangitoto channel to allow big container ships through... unless the port gets moved to Whangarei. Interesting. I think I'm all for...

Re: Paddle Shopping Auckland

I gave up trying to find a crank shaft Werner paddle.

The only place that could order one in for me that was the right size said it would take 3 months. :headbang:

Must be costing you a small fortune to buy all those fish and take pictures of them.

I had to work :/

Got One

Ocean Angler Spinder wanted.

Will pay $150-$200 cash depending on condition.

I'm in West Auckland (New Lynn) and can pick-up if not too far away, or will pay for postage.

GOT ONE.

NN - 29/08 Dolphins!

Decided to take the day off work as the weather has been total shit and I haven't been out in weeks. Went to Rough Rock and caught 6 pretty quickly, but then it went dead and never got another decent bite. Ended up drifting all the way back to the Takapuna cliffs were I spotted what looked like a gr...

Re: Stick Baits, Poppers, Heavy Jigging, from a kayak.

11kg of drag and I've upgraded it to carbontex washes and a good power knob for the handle.

Where I fish the chances of getting anything over 15lbs is slim.

But I hear what you're saying. I'm thinking of getting an Ocean Angler Spinder for micro jigging/sliders.

Cheers Rob, I'm a big fan of the show. You even inspired me to spend 2 nights on Motuora Island after I watched you and Paul do it.

Best tasting fish I've ever caught. :y:

Stick Baits, Poppers, Heavy Jigging, from a kayak.

I have a 4000 Stradic Ci4+ sitting in my closet doing nothing and I can't decide what rod to pair it up with. I already have a sweet soft-bait setup, and 2x slow jig/slider rigs. I started by thinking some sort of jigging rod for 150-300g jigs would be good. But I mostly fish in 9-12m of water, so I...

Re: Feelfree lure 10

I stick it in rudder 1st right up to the windscreen now so it doesn't hang out as far.

You are actually allowed 4m of overhang past the rear axle by law - which is pretty much the whole kayak.

Anyway, I find this system much easier that racks - zero lifting, just slide her in and out.
