Re: FF/GPS Combos

my understanding is any brand of sounder that offers side imaging will need to offer the reverse transducer mount option in the software, otherwise you get the left side sounding appearing on the right hand side of the screen and vice-versa if the transducer is reverse mounted (for a traditional tra...

Re: FF/GPS Combos

i think you need to know how my transducer looked when it was supplied from humminbird; with a conventional transom mount bracket for a powerboat (NB: the cable on my transducer comes up vertically/right angles from the top of the transducer - it is not at the shallower angle shown in the image belo...

Re: FF/GPS Combos

i know everyone has a bad news story about every brand of sounder in the market while it has some quirks and the software interface is a bit 'paint by numbers', i would encourage you to look at any of the Mega+ imaging humminbird units i have owned a 5", two 7", and now a 10" helix all with side ima...

Re: Logistics kayaking Stewart Island

Are you saying you don’t want to take the high speed cat over there?

If it were me I would ask them if you are allowed to bring your kayak onboard - I can’t see why not

Stewart Island is incredible, although I haven’t kayaked there. Go.

Auckland Boat Show 2019 - WildCat 3.1 - The next step up from a kayak?

just back from the auckland boat show. i felt sorry for the people on the stands as it was fairly quiet, but it made it easy to move around and was a fairly pleasant experience not having to elbow through crowds the very first stand inside the ticket booth was this guy: https://www.wildcatboats.co.n...

Re: Deep diving lures

a 60g squid wings will get down to the depths you want to get to, they are effective and easier to tow

you'll have to play around with your speed and depth to establish how deep they are running

Re: Deep diving lures

i have caught snapper on these trolling behind a kayak in close in auckland and they float which can be useful if you see the depth suddenly reduce (stop paddling and up pops your lure) although they only rated to run at 6 metres deep - you can feel it hitting the bottom at 6-6.5M so i would suggest...

Re: FS. Ocean kayak tridant 15

Probably the fastest PE kayak on the market The marketing kids might call it 15’ but it measures close enough to 16’ and it’s relatively narrow at 72cm Unlike many kayaks its relative performance improves as the conditions get lumpy You can also fit the full size wheeleez in the front hatch Pity the...

Re: Loading kayak on car...

the rest of us manage just fine following the directions of mr tapp:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E3-qXk89HVc

for me one of the prime benefits of having a kayak is not having to own store permit maintain park secure a trailer

you might as well get a proper boat once you commit to a trailer
