Re: Family Friendly Fishing in Coromandel
Otautu Bay has long been my stop- gap when the weather is dodgy, it has a wharf that can produce good fish (also very shallow at low tide, but an easy walk around the corner to the rocks fixes that) also the easiest launching place I know of in the coromandel when the weather is poos, sheltered fro...

Re: Elite 7 - I want to cry :(
Bryce for a quick and cheap fix you could try a car tinting place or a sign writing place and get some of their clear plastic stick-on film. It has uv properties and anti glare plus it may help stop water getting in. It won't hide the crack but it may help. It could also help protect a ff screen fro...

Re: Carrots for tea :)
Awesome catch Steve. It was a beaut day here yesterday and I took my wife out to the lake so she could try out her new kayak she got from Father Christmas. Viking Profish GT. Steve another place to try would be Turakina beach and launch from the river. I haven't been there for years now but there wa...

Re: Profish 400 or GT
The black and blue GT looks really good Hatz. We were looking at one on Friday. Regarding the set up on the tackle pod you can always look at the Railblaza TracPort Dash 350 and mount your elite5hdi on the Railblaza Rotating Platform and have a rod holder either side. That set up would allow 2 more ...

Re: New Kayak: Viking Kayak Profish GT
I could see this being a good "Mother Ship" kayak when space on board the ship is limited and distance's needed to fish are short and in amongst the white wash and rocks. If you have a reload already then the inter-changeablity of tackle pods would be a huge bonus. Might have to trade the ...

Re: New Kayak: Viking Kayak Profish GT
Is it the same pod as the reload? Also, does it take the chill pod? Think it caters for both don't but quote me on thou mate :P ... Going by the Viking website,, the Reload/ 400 Chill Pod fits the Replay GT and the Reload tackle pod also fits the GT Bryce, which makes it a very versatile kayak if y...

Re: Lowrance elite 5 HDI transducer size issue
I have the Elite 7HDI and that transducer fits in the transducer scupper of my Profish 400. I also have an Elite 5HDI and the transducer for that is exactly the same size as the Elite 7HDI so it should fit. I can't comment on the Elite 4HDI because I'm unsure but I would assume they are all the same...

Re: Commercial fishing ban in new marine parks
Totally agree RaG And it may not be another tax but someone will still have to pay for the quota. I find it strange that what ever the "Blues" promise there never seems to be questions about how we pay for it but as soon as the "Reds" or "Greens" mention anything it's &...

Re: Why to wind with your non-dominant hand?
For me it's not about the winding so much, it's about the casting and being left handed I throw left handed. To me it just seems natural and I get a much more accurate cast. It's great not having to change hands to fish after casting. On retrieval, being left handed I fight a fish that way and wind ...
