Re: Which softbait reel
Any more there? - nothing wrong with the FI wouldn't mind picking one up at that price. Symetres a good option also if you can't stretch to the stradic fj price point.paddlesnap wrote:Scored a FI Stradic 4000 today from Top Catch for $180

Re: Cheap Prowler or expensive Profish
Someone convince me that I can buy the $900 Prowler and not suffer buyers remorse. I couldn't afford any of the more expensive prowler or profish models so went with the prowler 13 and suits me just fine - I haven't paddled anything else much so don't know what I'm missing out on, but ignorance is ...

Re: finding hooks in your fish??
A decent proportion of the kingis I've caught on Waiheke have had old hooks and trace in their gobs but mostly this is around the mussell farm so I guess people have hooked them on snapper gear and they've quickly busted them off.

Re: trouble with boaties
Not kayaking related but had a mate fishing in motuhie channel the other day in his yacht and another yacht colided with him and ended up against his yacht, the offending yacht had a rod in a holder onboard which caught my mate by the arm with a hook which he had to cut to free the other boat, then ...

How do you fill around the transducer if this stuff is so thick? Yeah I used it around the transducer and it was a pain to use - hard to f...

Re: long range forecast fo great barrier (help please)
That's a long time away mate and the weather is so changeable at the moment that I don't think I'd put too much faith in it, but http://www.metvuw.co.nz" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; is pretty good. At least with Barrier you have protection from all wind directions somewhere - as lo...

I've never eaten one but was told to gut them quickly after capture to stop their stomach contents tainting their flesh? They're suckers for mussels as bait, but then you might as well eat the mussels eh

Re: The kayak market
You only have to walk along any beach on Waiheke to realise just how many kayaks there are out there (admittedly most are not fishing yaks) - sadly most are seldom used, but it's big buisness for sure.
