Re: Kingi Setup?

Is my best option 30lb braid or 30lb Mono for kingis or does it not really matter? Is mono better for livebaiting and braid better for jigging?

Re: Kingi Setup?

This is all good stuff - cheers Fullus.

Consensus seems to be that the reel spooled with 30kg braid will do the trick.

BUT my 7ft Raider is only rated to 10 - 15kg. Is this a problem?

Matarangi Hot Spots?

Heading to Matarangi for labor weekend. Just wondering if anyone has had any experience fishing around here and if they would mind parting with some tips? Have fished/dived Opito many times but not Matarangi. Of course if any other yakkers on this forum are at Matarangi for Labor weekend and keen fo...

Re: Poll of the Week - How many sofbaits?

I think I'm doing something wrong.... :^) I started soft baiting and kayak fishing in Nov 2009. Since then I have gone out on average once a fortnight and use on average one bait every 2 or 3 sessions and every time bar 3 I've come home with between 5 and 15 fish. I've only ever used 6" nuclear chic...

Re: Fishing alone?

I'm in the no mates camp. I live in papmoa and always fish alone, up to 5/6k offshore for up to half a day. doesnt really bother me, just give the Mrs a timeframe and call in on the shoe phone if i'm going to be late (usually either fishin is too good to leave OR I've got a mean westerly to contend ...

I'd like something reasonably bullet proof and reasonably priced. Apart from my normal soft bait set up I have a Shimano Baitrunner 6500 on a Shi...

Re: Paddle Pants

I'm lookin for some paddle pants also. Do any of these have a pee flap? Am tired (but not as tired as my Mrs) of peeing in my wetsuit....great for keeping the boys warm, not so good for hanging around for a beer with the fellas back at the carpark..........
