Re: Northland Classic 2018 ~ Epickswid

@TBreezy I will be cooking the Pigfish just like most species, pan fry or bake it. The flesh is similar looking to blue cod just way wider !' @Rabbit The old bait and berley is what i have grown up with down here in the bay, so it's what i've always done. I have caught a wide range of species on jig...

Re: Northland Classic 2018 ~ Epickswid

With that the day was over pretty much. Came in early and got cleaned up with some time to spare before weigh in. Lots of big fish this year, and I watched some of my dream fish come through the gate to be weighed. Final results were: Snapper: 10.7kg Kingfish: 17.6kg Trevally: 3.8kg Kahawai: 2.6kg N...

Mahia peninsula is located 3 hours north of Napier, It was about time to put some effort into getting a feed outside napier waters. Somehow we found a cabin fairly close to the peninsula, everything for miles was booked out for the long weekend. Sunday We arrived at the beach about 3pm, Conditions w...

Do you just catch those fishing lures in a burley trail ? I'm too scared to put them down because of the couta around here. do you tend to lose very many lures ? Interested to see , because i will be switching over if it's not too bad. Great catch too , Jealous :y:

Its winter time here in the bay, that means frosts , Dreaded spiny dogfish and tackle busting barracouta. There can be some good things in winter though. The last time i had been out was march which feels like forever ago. Had a few issues with the sounder and a seized reel but just got on with it l...

I caught many different species: Kahawai, Spiny Dogfish, Blue Cod, ScorpionFish, Spotty, Yellow Eyed Mullet, Even a cute conger eel. Conditions were great apart from the rolling 1.2m swell . Can confirm Spinies are still a menace...

Looking like a real goer this weekend for the kayak fishing, I'll be heading to Tangoio or Te Awanga swell depending. Feeling great to have a weather break and some time to get off the coast again. Going to be a bit colder this time though. Who's Keen?

Re: Easter weekend

Fishing was on fire for Kahawai, Horse mackerel and other bit's and pieces. I got destroyed by a big Kingfish on my Gurnard rig (200m on the first run) After being towed a good 500m my dropper loop on the 40lb leader gave way. Was always going to happen with pressure like that. (could have bit the 2...
