Here in Hawkes Bay i mainly fish for Snapper from 4m - 6m deep. You really get a scrap out of them at this depth. The trusty Pinky Snapper Snatcher did the damag...

Heading out Saturday TA

Going for a fish saturday at Te Awanga, testing out some new gear . Hopefully there are some fish about . Keen for some people to join me. Still watching the swell height at this point, but it looks to be dropping to a manageable level by Saturday. Cheers :y:

Re: Northland Classic 2018 ~ Epickswid

@TBreezy I will be cooking the Pigfish just like most species, pan fry or bake it. The flesh is similar looking to blue cod just way wider !' @Rabbit The old bait and berley is what i have grown up with down here in the bay, so it's what i've always done. I have caught a wide range of species on jig...

Re: Northland Classic 2018 ~ Epickswid

With that the day was over pretty much. Came in early and got cleaned up with some time to spare before weigh in. Lots of big fish this year, and I watched some of my dream fish come through the gate to be weighed. Final results were: Snapper: 10.7kg Kingfish: 17.6kg Trevally: 3.8kg Kahawai: 2.6kg N...

Smashing PBs - Mahia 2018

Mahia peninsula is located 3 hours north of Napier, It was about time to put some effort into getting a feed outside napier waters. Somehow we found a cabin fairly close to the peninsula, everything for miles was booked out for the long weekend. Sunday We arrived at the beach about 3pm, Conditions w...

Back after 2 months - Hawkes Bay

Its winter time here in the bay, that means frosts , Dreaded spiny dogfish and tackle busting barracouta. There can be some good things in winter though. The last time i had been out was march which feels like forever ago. Had a few issues with the sounder and a seized reel but just got on with it l...

Good Kahawai at the port

Went down late morning through till afternoon to see what was around.. I caught many different species: Kahawai, Spiny Dogfish, Blue Cod, ScorpionFish, Spotty, Yellow Eyed Mullet, Even a cute conger eel. Conditions were great apart from the rolling 1.2m swell . Can confirm Spinies are still a menace...
