Re: Saving pennies for first yak

Do not overlook stealth kayaks. They are a paddlers kayak. The most comfortable seating position Ive ever sat in. Despite what sceptics think they are plenty stable enough. And if you're not convinced... Their looks alone should turn heads :wasntme:

20lb Snapper?

Heading out to give fishing a go out of Leigh this morning. Wasn't gonna spend too long on the water as it was a little windy though the chop was pretty mild. Anyway headed out round the point a little north. Tried a little fast jigging (with slow jog setup), fish were responding on the sounder but ...

Re: WTB good affordable kayak paddle

I recently purchased an Aquabound Stingray Carbon paddle from a US website for just under $NZ300 (INCLUDING postage). The difference in power and weight is phenomenal. Extending my paddle endurance immensely. See link below: https://www.rei.com/product/851477/aqua-bound-sting-ray-posi-lok-kayak-padd...

Selling prowler 4.1 ultra - DID NOT SELL

I'm wanting to upgrade to a Stealth kayak and so need to sell my prowler. I can tell you that this Kayak is in excellent condition apart from some very light scratches on the Hull... The top surface looks almost brand new as I am very particular about looking after my gear. Comes with all the gear y...

Re: Is a sub-$500 set-up worth it or save a bit more?

On the advice of folk here on the board, I made sure I got one with 'Quickdraw' mapping and it's fantastic. The Quickdraw mapping is what was introduced with the 'plus' models i.e. striker 4 'plus'. For new areas that you haven't had the chance to map yet. I like to go onto navionics on my phone, f...

Re: Is a sub-$500 set-up worth it or save a bit more?

Quick update and question: WTF are they hundreds of dollars cheaper overseas than NZ for the same model, same charts, same warranty period, etc? I don't buy the argument it's a volume thing, that's a contributing factor for sure but the differences are too much. With that said, how many people have...

Re: Tips and ideas to Keep It Simple please.

I generally also have just 2 rods with me. 1 softbait setup and a longer stiffer rod out back trolling rapala (sometimes more productive than softbait). Can also use this stiffer rod for casting surface lures if the opportunity presents itself

Re: Is a sub-$500 set-up worth it or save a bit more?

I have a garmin striker plus 4. $269 with chirp and a basic chart plotter unique to Garmin. You could go for the landscape 5inch unit for about the $500 mark I believe. Unless you want alot more out of a chart plotter unit... And you want downscanning.. Sidescanning tech etc. The standard sonar imag...

Re: Different life jackets on the market

I have the NRS cVest which is awesome! Real comfy with the high back so the seat back fits underneath it, loads of pockets for vhf, knife, pliers etc. Just ordered the 2018 Cvest. It has a much more durable rating than the chinook. Unfortunately paddlerzone only have the L/CL size (too big for me)....
