Re: Anyone considered Coro-G.Barrier-Mokohinaus?
I recently spoke to an uncle who paddled from Leigh to Great Barrier island - Anthony Cribb. He was a renowned paddler in waka ama circles. He said It took him and a friend all day to paddle from Leigh to Great Barrier island. They camped on the beach overnight then paddled back to Leigh the next da...

Re: Anyone considered Coro-G.Barrier-Mokohinaus?
My Movie 15.mp4 I'm thinking of something less ambitious. Leave Waitawa, cross to Pakihi and fish around the island. Make my way to Karamuramu and back to Waitawa. Hope to do it over the xmas holiday break. I'm keen on joining you on this Jeremy, I've already done it several times, just got to pick...

Re: Anyone considered Coro-G.Barrier-Mokohinaus?
I know of a couple who paddled to Little Barrier and back for a day trip. It's doable but the conditions had to be perfect. I vaguely recall that they paddled from a beach somewhere on the Hibiscus Coast in the very early hours of the morning on an outdoing tide. When they returned very late in the ...

Thanks Jason.
It's sad to hear this site will come to an end. This forum has taught me so much over the years, and it has forged great memories and friendships along the way.
All the best to you.

Wattle Downs - Sunday. How was the fishing?
I was out walking the dog in Wattle Downs and noticed a couple of fishing kayaks on the water. Was this anyone on the forum? How was the fishing?

Re: Doubling over braid??
I always double over braid when I'm tying a uni-to-uni knot, as an insurance policy. I know a bloke who has caught multiple 20lbs, never doubled over his braid until our recent trip. I was like "Dafaq!"

Re: Bixpys and Kayak Fishing Comps
I'm more focused on the fishing angler than what they paddle, peddle or are powered-by. I was hesitant at first when the Bixpys were entering the comps. Nowadays I'm not fussed. And if recent competition results have anything to go by, it's pretty much the same anglers on the winner's podium - who a...

The best, (but not the cheapest) polarised sunnies for me is from Specsavers. They can also customise their lenses if you have vision issues. They also look good and are very well made.

HI Snooky.
I live are the fringe of Wattle downs. I'll be keen to check out the old muddy again. Be good to fish around those parts again. It's been a long time since I've been to shark island.

Not good to read Marc. Good to hear you're safe and well. There's been a few stories lately with kayakers getting into trouble.
I've been complacent recently, as I haven't practised re-entry for a few years. Reading threads like this is a stark reminder.

Re: water restrictions
I'm afraid it's true. Driest period on record and it could get worse.
Zero fishing for me at the moment. I'm working on rain water collection, drip feed irrigation and mulching to protect and feed my gardens for the tough times ahead.

Re: Missing kayaker?
I'm glad to hear they're okay. I know that stretch of water well. I use to kayak fish in that channel. When the tide is in full swing it is really difficult to paddle back to shore. I noticed the police helicopter flying over our neighbourhood on Sunday. But I thought it was some cheeky hua getting ...

Hmmm...I've had no such advertising on my phone. So far I've got Mitsubishi and Harley Davidson advertisements.
Flirty moms and Glamorous grannies isn't so bad. It could've been Tentalising Trannies or Groaning Grandads

Re: Level 3 Fishing or not.
It was pure luck. From what I recall, there was a strong westerly. I fished between 18-20m, and I used a pink/black crazy charlie 60 or 80g lure. It looks similar to a Lucanus. I'm no expert in that area, but I've caught some great in Maketu as well - crazy charlie, once again. I try to go home as o...

I hope for good fishing weather myself. But I prefer a good rainfall for for a week or 2. I'm not liking the dry spell we've been having.
