Viking Profish 440 for sale
Selling my Viking 440. As is. About 9 years old but hasn't been used for the last 6-7 years. Front and rear well insulated covers. I also made an insulated rear well fish bin out of camping mat foam for keeping ice and fish juice in. Has been permanently stored inside. Has the usual minor scratches ...

Re: Naki tuna are in!
What type of lures and trebles do you run? A variety of bibbed lures in the 5-10cm range work. Depends on what they are feeding on but albies aren't as picky as skippies. Yesterday they were feeding on 10cm iridescent blue bait fish and that means my favorite lure gets a run :x As far as hooks go-a...

Re: Out to the back paddock
Nice HLD. Shame about the video but memories last forever
Having been narrowly missed by bombing gannets and had to deal with hooked gannets in my lap I'm glad I haven't yet had one of those experiences!

Naki tuna are in!
Took a fair bit of deciding to make up my mind to head up to New Plymouth this morning but glad I put in the effort to get the rewards. No real reports of tuna around and some very cold water had me thinking I might be wasting my time but thought a paddle would do me good anyway. Found clear colour ...

Re: Northland Kayak Fishing Classic 2016
Yahoo!!! Bring it on. Big ups to Viking Kayaks for the sponsorship and everybody who is part of the organisation team. Love the "only one weigh in" - means exploring parts of the country you haven't been too is not a disadvantage if not within driving distance of weigh-in. Can't wait!

Re: Tuna in the naki
Where did they go? I was out yesterday for a net result of no tuna hookups ;( Caught and released one rat kingi. And that was all. Dave, Jason and I ended up out at 70m before deciding there was more surface bait action back in around 50m so headed back in. No birds and no workups. Maybe the water i...

Re: Tuna in the naki
Slept in so was a bit late getting on the water
Great day out there although the body is feeling it today having not been on a kayak since August
Nice to find them in closer too. I don't remember them ever being that close last year all season.

Re: Reason number 1 for no legs over the side!
You only have to have sharks come racing out of nowhere trying to grab hooked fish at the last minute to rethink what you do. There were a couple of big greys and seven gillers buzzing us last time out. Although not big enough to be serious it would still be bloody nasty if they had a chew on a calf...
