Taranaki Kayak Fishing Classic

The Taranaki Kayak Fishing Classic is a two day kayak fishing event held annually at the seaside village of Oakura in North Taranaki.

Hosted by the Oakura Surfcasting & Kayak Fishing Club in conjunction with highly supportive local and national sponsors, the previous two contests have been hugely successful, and now with the continued generous support of those sponsors it has grown to become New Zealand’s premier annual kayak fishing event.

Open to all kayak anglers, the contest offers a great selection of fishing locations within the over 200 kilometres of Taranaki coastline available between the official Contest boundaries. The abundant populations and variety of fish species available throughout this area are reflected by the eight Heaviest Fish and Runner-Up prizes the contest has on offer.

All contestants qualify to go in the draw for the Main Spot Prize of a Mission Catch 390 Fishing Kayak package. Additionally, those who purchase their tickets before the 1st March 2009 will also be eligible for the Early Bird Prize draw of a Mission Flow recreational kayak.

So don’t delay, send your entry form and payment into us before the 1st of March to be in the Early Bird Prize draw. Sort out those rods and reels, charge up the fish finder battery, and come join us for a weekend of full-on kayak fishing action along the Taranaki coast.
