My dry pants. Whatever the weather, I find staying dry in the seat reduces my discomfort levels.

I don't often take food out, as I have plenty off at to burn ...

What's the one non-essential/non-safety accessory on your Kayak you wouldn't be without?

So what is it you take with you when you go fishing that you simply couldn't do without or you have found extremely useful?
   Dammit, EVERYTHING I take is ESSENTIAL, even all that fishing tackle that's never actually been wet despite accompanying me on every trip since Noah dangled a line from the Ark! :$

The one "non-essential/non-safety" item I've paddled without on the odd occasion, and felt down right naked without, is my sounder! Oh how I missed those wonderful pictures of the mysterious land beneath my keel.

I like to keep a couple of floats/buoys in the back. I clip 'em onto my anchor line to chase off after workups that pop up near by. Saves time (having to wind it in) and I don't lose the spot that I've been fishing.

A very interesting question that took me a while to find an answer .
I have to take my polarised sunglasses out everytime !
Even on cloudy days i find the glare off the sea makes me squint .

My cap. I can do without the sunnies, just, but the wind on my head gives me a mean headache if I don't have a hat on. Not to mention the sun burn.
Simple is as simple does.

Interesting bunch of answers.

i also used to go out without sunnies. but at a recent eye test (getting headaches squinting at the PC screen) the optometrist asked if i did any sports of course i said i go fishing and his immediate response was... do you wear sunnies. I said no... his response was.. stupid idiot (or words that indicated that was what he was thinking) the glare even on a cloudy day is so bad and the damage is irepairable. he reccommended the best sunnies you could get. and also to make sure they were UV and polerised. My dad also got his eyes tested and was told the same thing (different town) must admit since i have been wearing glasses the strain on my eyes has been reduced alot (less headaches)

So my cant do without is hat and sunnies

Yeah I have the same problem, seems to be a series of small fires on my yak each time the fishing is quiet.

Thanks for the answers guys, I figured there must be something else I hadn't thought of taking out with me that would make life a bit easier.
Surprisingly the one that hasn't come up which seems to be in all the pics getting posted lately are Lip-grippers.
Never really thought about it, but can see now they must make life easier if almost everyone is using them.

Lip grippers are great for Barracouta, My personal favourite fish species........... :@ Them and dog fish that clamp their jaws on the hook so you can't get it out again.

One thing I can't do without. Not having had them with me: Pliers, can't get hooks out of DF without them. Or worse, can't cut hook off without them. Had to cut line :swear:

Sunnies are a must for me, staves off the headaches and helps me read the water, hat, sunblock, water to drink.
