Well I asked the boss if I could take the day off and go fishing. He said fine, as long as I catch him a good feed.

Mitch was busy on his 'The power of hugs and cuddles" course, so I paddled out at 6am alone.

To say the fishing was on fire is like saying lava is hot.

I threw back 15 or so snapper in the mid to late 30's, and stayed out a bit longer looking for the good stuff.

And the big boy came...

71cm monster bent my new softbait rod over and pulled me around the channel for 10 mins. (caught on a gulp 5 inch curried chicken curly tail)

Ocean Angler bender rod for sliders, and Giko rod for softies - recommended!

Great fish Doc, I was jealous when I phoned you.
Out fishing would have been a far better option than the training course.

Well done - great fish for our hood. My best from NN is also 71 cm - but the fish was pretty skinny and only weighed 12.5 pounds. Yours looks fat as a tick. I guess that is the difference between spring fish and autumn fish - my 71 cm fish was caught in April.

Hate to say it - but I think The Mayor’s 17.5 pounder is the fish to beat locally!
