Well my 76 year old father finally got sick of seeing me catch my limit so often so he decided to buy a 'motoyak' - which is basically a narrow inflatable with a small outboard, and come out for a go.

We got there at 5am and there was actually a bit of swell pushing some decent waves onto the beach which made launching a bit of fun for him :o

He had trouble figuring out how to start the outboard and was going to call it quits right there, but I convinced him to keep trying, and he finally got going and disappeared into the dark.

I followed a few minutes later and headed left to lucky #7 buoy, after a quick chat with Barry - who was the only other NN regular to show up - tisk tisk boys!

It was a slow start for me, and I decided to give the old boy a ring, fully expecting him to have chickened out and be back on shore.

To my surprise he had 4 already and basically hung up on me as he had another one on the line - the gratitude!

He was done in little over and hour, and I met him back on the beach an hour after that, with 13 between us. (He won with a nice 55cm)

I'm thinking he may be hooked 8)

Nice to see. My wife and I also managed 13 between the two of us today.... unfortunately our 13 were nappy changes - not snapper!

ok, I met you & your dad yesterday, I was parked up next door to you. Thanks for the tip about squid on the slider hooks
I picked your brains a few times over the weeks on this forum about sliders, weights colours, cheers for that

Yesterday was the first time ever I left my bait & burley at home & used lures only, far out, it felt bloody weird doing that. Like going to the pub to get hammered & choosing to leave your wallet at home
I took 2 snaps home from where you got you your quota, 37 & 47, pretty stoked, released another around 33 plus a few throw backs. Drifted almost to NN, mostly barren through that channel edge.

Good work mate. I was on Whieke for the weekend with my wife. Must of done something right as permission was granted for a quick fish when we got home. Launched at 6pm home at 8. Got 6 biggest 57cm. The Mayor is back.

I believe any fish caught outside NN is invalid.

They were caught at NN. Went on Sunday night when we got home. Taking my fishing gear over the weekend would of been more than my lifes worth.
Yet more points for the Mayor and still top of the NN Premiere League. 8)
