I spent the day at Auckland Zoo with the family for our works Christmas party. Permission was granted for a quick fish, wasn't expecting to get much as I knew Baz had been out in the morning dredging with 8 rods. Mitch is busy packing his white chino's and deck shoes for his forth coming cruise with Lord Percy and Co. Oh how nice it must be to be semi retired!!
Hit the beach at 430 and surprisingly had the place to myself. Hit a patch of fish and it was all on. Had 6 between 42 & 35 in no time. Home at 7 to put the boys to bed and yet more points for the Mayor. Great day all round. :D

Nice report mate, good to have the place to yourself, as it does get busy there most times

What rod & reel are you running for the sliders, line weight & range of lure weight ?
I'm a bait & burley fala, getting setup to this lure style of fishing

Hi Mate,
I use K-lab rods which are a joy to use and the best thing I have brought, shimano 2500 reels with 6kg braid, the ones around the 100 to 150 buck price range, 3/8oz 3/0 nitro jig heads and Ghost 12lb leader.
I use 30g Ocean angler sliders and new penny curly tails.
I'm no expert but the above works well for me. Just get out early before the boats

Yeah I saw him at work. Enough for a fed though. Think I got lucky, hit a patch of fish and it was hetic fishing. No boats around either, I reckon when it's quiet it makes a big difference.

Went out again yesterday.

Got one nice one and some pannies - was hard work.

Overheard some boaties saying it was shit, and talked to a kayaker who got 3.

Wasn't helped by the 4 jetski'ers charging full throttle around the channel...

I was plagued by these, in the BOP over the break, never a rifle handy, when you need one...
