Hi all.
I am new to this kind of fishing and am yet to purchase a kayak. Having done some research I believe that my choice is between a Viking Profish 440 and an Ocean Kayaks Prowler 4.5. I would appreciate any comments/thoughts on these two.
Newby looking for advice.

Paddle both in advance if you can. It comes down to personal preference.
Rob Fort is just up the road in Coromandel. He'll have all the information you need on Ocean Kayaks (and probably has one you can use for a test).

Thanks for the comments.
I will be popping up the road to see Rob as soon as the weather settles down. I can try a Profish here in Waiomu for a comparison, I just wondered if anyone had any specific preferences.

I think they're both good yaks. People often recommend the brand they own, sometimes for genuine reasons, sometimes not. The optional Viking Tackle Pod would be a big selling point for me, although it sounds like something similar is coming along for the OK models.

If you are lookign at viking profish why not try the reload too? That is a very complete fishing machine, and has taken the pod concept to the next level.
Removable pods really are very convenient for kayak fishing. Mine just live in the kayak trailer ready to go.

I was going to suggest that too, but wondered if someone might think it OTT for a beginner. Certainly the only fishing kayak you would ever need to buy.MikeAqua wrote:If you are lookign at viking profish why not try the reload too?
