Morning folks, just introducing myself as I've just pulled the trigger on a new Profish 400 (being a sucker for advertising I saw the factory second sale ad come up and had a rush of blood to the head) mainly bought it for trout stalking on the mighty Waikato around Mangakino but living in wellington I imagine it will be trying out a few local areas.

being a second I didn't get a choice of colours so ended up with blue / white - which I'm not entirely sure I'd have got given the choice, ah well it was good price

once I get my hands on it and get set up there might be pics and questions

Nice one. If you are on social media you’ll find most WN fishos on FB. There is a Wellington Kayak Fishing page.

So you are, didn't notice. The guys on FB tend to sort fish missions through that platform, Pukerua Bay and Makara are popular. Pukerua is close for us clearly and, it produces fish more importantly.

alright, be safe on the water. first time for me was pretty wobbly but the balance got better after a stretch on the beach.

So did my inaugural paddle this morning on the inner harbour at Porirua, was somwhat less than ideal so went round to the ski club for a little bit of shelter (yeah right)

Paddled for about half an hour in the wind, didn’t rig cos was just seeing how she goes

So question for profish 400 owners out there, is it just me or does the wind pick the tail up more than the bow, I’m used to bigger boats which are mostly bow happy in the wind, was an odd feeling having yer arse blown across by the wind from behind

I now need to buy more stuff (probably including a rudder)

Also recent owners of the profish 400 this year mate. Got ours ruddered straight off the bat....when you get the swell direction opposing the wind direction, the rudder comes in bloody handy in Welly conditions! That along with a sea anchor, will save you ending up in the Marlborough sounds or Stralia unplanned!!
