E Coli Bay on the North Shore sent me north a bit up to Leigh. Launched just as the sun was rising with a ton of other yakkers but headed right instead of left. I suck at catching live baits but managed a squid on the sabiki (wtf) so popped him on a hook and send him back down. Not 5 mins later somthing took off with it and I reeled in a small king, just under legal size. The only other live bait I could catch was a small maomao which also went down on the hook but remained untouched for the rest of the morning. Saw dolphins, caught a couple of pannies and caught a ripper of a JD coming in at 48.5cm. Happy as.
