early start with the kayaks loaded the night before, me and the missus went driving hoping the road to waiti bay would be opened but unfortunately was still closed from the slips in winter. so we decided to give orere a crack.
got on the water around 7am, and headed straight out. didnt see any sign on the sounder but gave the softbait some casts with only a couple of bites bit no takers, as the morning wind picked up started feeling abit uncomfortable and was drifting too fast and didnt have my drouge so we went in abit closer to try some reefy structure but still no interest.
decided it was time for a stretch so headed to a small bay on the western point. had some morning tea and back out to try again.
as we were giving up drifting towards the carpark managed to land some dinner a 45cm snapper.
loaded up about 12pm. first time at orere point on the kayak alittle more wind and swell then i expected, going to make up a running rig for the espri i think so we both can use sea anchors.

Reports I have heard over the last week out there its been pretty hard going, even news that a couple of seasoned Orere`ites got skunked on the weekend...
