first time fishing at narrowneck on the kayak, as expected the weather was fantastic, got on the water just after 7am.

headed towards a buoy to the right, stopping along the way at some fishy looking sign, i picked up two pan sized snapper with my recently aquired 90g hornet jig from kaveman tackle and my father got one aswell on softbaits.

buoy turned out to be called rough rock and not the channel marker, a couple of guys in a small boat were casting stickbaits at it.
father hooked onto a couple of blue cod, with the bigger of the two getting away, thought this was pretty far into the harbour to catch them?

tide had turned at this point and we drifted back to the beach with only a couple of small bites with all the legs getting eaten off my father's squid vicious (leather jackets perhaps?). all loaded up at 10am and off to macdonalds for brunch

Nice work.

I head left and fish out towards Takapuna beach.

Never seen a blue cod around there.
