On Thursday morning on the way home from work at 2am crossing the harbour bridge the water looked so smooth I decided to load the car up with the kayak and gear ready for a early start Friday morning. Knocked off work a 2am, 3 hours sleep and on the road to Waiake Beach. On the water by 6am. Nearly ran into some mored boats in the dark and headed out pass the Tor. What a lovely morning to be out on the water. Got a phone call around 7:30 saying that there was a earthquake at East Cape and to watch out for a tsunami. Well I them listened to the weather on 71. Massive warning in place, so I continued fishing and not a ripple. Caught two pan sizes Snapper and headed back in around 8:30. All in all a good start to the day and my first solo outing. Looking forward to Sunday and fishing with EAKF at Orere Point.
