Hey - 1st trip report from me.
Arrived just before dawn, with a chicken McMuffin brekky to chomp while I was setting up and waiting for some light.
Headed out right at low tide around 6.30am, headed straight out. I was using a softbait setup, and a slow jig (orange slider) - saw some action early on during the second drift around the 10m mark. Caught a few pannies in the first hour then went quiet so headed up toward the yellow bouy, did a few drifts around there but nothing.
On teh way back saw some promising sign right about directly east of the green marker pole about 400m - did a couple of drifts and hooked the biggest fish of the day - had a bit of a mare topside though as I managed to both hook myself with the flying hook and then lost the fish when it went mental on my lap. Got a few spikes and a good hole in my finger - fish 1 - AJ 4

So in summary, all the action today on the slider - nothing not even a touch on the softies. Slider was pretty much taken on retrieve every time

Just to make me feel better I stopped at WSL and picked up the new 2500 Stradic, and a Status 7.2 rod to add to my collection. My other main yak rod/reel setups are Berkley Bionix 7' one piece with T-Alloy 2500 reels.

Can't wait to try the new setup. I'm pissed I can't get the bionic rods any more - they are like featherweight wands of power.
Those slow jigs are epic - I caught about 40 biggish snaps on my lucanus on a recent trip on wavedancer.
I'm super happy to get back on a yak now I live back in NZ - never did it in Sydney - rubbish fish and too many big bity's

Awesome
Everyone is a genius.

But if you judge a fish
on its ability to climb a tree.
it will live its whole life believing it is stupid.

Thats the Navionics Iphone app - I have an old otterbox case I got for my Palm Pilot (yeah - doh!) which fits my iphone so have that mounted on deck. I've just upgraded to 6s and a mofi battery extender so it should now last the trip.
Really, all said and done, I should have bitten the bullet and upgraded to a chartplotter/sounder but hey
