I arrived nice and early to Orere at just after 6am to see a few kayakers getting rigged up and ready to go. I launched from the river mouth with my trolling lure in tow but unfortunately the lure didn’t get any attention unlike the previous trip.

A beautiful sunrise shortly followed by some action, a few undersize Snapper and Gurnard that went straight back to the drink.

I nearly lost my GoPro to water when my K-labs bent to the ninth degree and the line was peeling off quick! My sudden head turn allowed my headstrap to slip off my head and into the drink :headbang: - what the hell do I do?! Fish or GoPro?? I quickly punched my fist through the water to retrieve my GoPro then tended to my rod and pulled a very nice 48cm Snapper. It was shortly followed by 3 more Snapper measuring 38 - 46cm. The next few hours saw no action at all - I also resorted to stinkbait but the fish weren’t interested.

The time was 11am, so I decided to call it a day. Scale and gut on the water and back to shore at 12. A quick feed and chat to the chaps. I had to rush home to clean up the whare before the missus flew back from Welly, but it was too late. She was home and she wasn't too pleased. :tmi:

Overall a fantastic day for a very worthy cause. I’m in for the next mission.

The following clip is a brief summary of the day’s action. Enjoy!

Hey Schecter, nice to meet you briefly and thanks for the pointers.

Glad you managed to retrieve the GoPro... there was someone else who lost theirs this weekend already, no need for another offering like that to King Neptune.

Mate cool footage, if I'd known you were filming I would have held that fish up properly! Those little cameras are awesome.

Vids are getting better and better Schecter. Have you considered a helmet mount with tether ?
I use an old kayak helmet but a bike helmet would likely do too.
