Howdy. I have recently moved from Upper Hutt to Levin. Normally fish in the summer / autumn months a bit further down the coast at Pukerua Bay. I'm looking at heading out at our local beaches once we settle in and water gets warmer.

Are there any folk who head out at Hokio beach, Waikawa or Waitarere beach way? I'm keen to tag along with others if there is opportunity.

I have been kayak fishing since 2012. Normally anchor / burley and bait fish.

Cheers
Jules :)

Hi,
I'm based in Levin and head out on the west coast quite a bit. I usually leave from waiterere because the vehicle access is easier. Been catching snapper the last few weeks as well as the odd gurnard and even (yesterday) a barracouta.
We're a bit limited on launching days though because theres no shelter from incoming seas so really need half a metre or less to make it comfortable.

Hi Brian. Thanks for your reply. I was wondering if there were any other kayak fishos here. Mind you I have seen a few on roof racks driving around.Good to hear your getting out and catching them already! Good on you. I'd be really keen to meet up and head out sometime. How far out do you head? Is it's mainly sand or reef? Julian 021 205 7752.
