Since it is our winter season, all offshore fishing has ground to a stop, and when cabin fever of winter starts driving you nuts. You start looking for adventures. So out into the backwoods I went for a night shoot using candles, two miniature oil lamps, and a very small can fire. Several times during the shoot, I day "critters" start flanking me and more than one deer creep up behind me. Sounds in the dark are much "bigger" in deep fog in a back swamp. :)
If you need an adventure bad enough you make one... #beavikingImage

Got bumped by a lot of logs but can't confirm past that (there are gators there though). No they were mostly likely feral hogs or coyotes. A couple sounds were probably armadillos which in the dark sound 15 times bigger. Kinda messes with your male ego, when you are staring into the woods wondering what is stalking you, just to look down at an 6 inch tall armadillo crawling out....

Generally mild. We hit below freezing a couple different times this year which makes for a very hard winter here. Fours hours north and that would be considered normal. 12 hours north that just be an average autumn. We are kind of spoiled that way. That being said, everything but snapper migrates south during the winter. None of us own dry suits, so crashing through the cold surf and fighting rough seas is just a good reason to the three months off.

Interesting. Thought your winters would be warmer, but three months off isn’t that long.
