So I just recently got myself a near new electric motor (Berkley t24) for my kayak (Viking Reload) and I am after some advice on what would be the best recommended setup to install it.

I have the Raiblaza bracket to hold the motor, just wondering should I put the hd starports between the rod holders or would installing them on the chillpod be fine?

i don't think it is safe to attach it on the chillpod. you will use the chillpod to "push" your yak forward. the strings that locking the chillpod will give up and might have that pod jump and punch your back/head.

attach em direct to your yak would be safer.

cheers thanks, I didn't think of the strain it would put on the chillpod. I only thought of it as I had seen others with pictures of it attached to the chillpod, but me personally I didn't think it would be a good option as the chillpod is techniquely just sitting there, but also didn't want the railblaza bracket blocking all the rod holders at the back. It will be a job this weekend to get it together and still been able to use some of the rod holders.

One other thing, what the best way to secure the battery in the chillpod?

I think I built up a bit of a reputation for getting myself into trouble on here a few years ago and that was mostly because of stupid things I did with electric motors. What i can tell you is that those things exert a fair bit of force and when things go wrong with that motor zipping up and down next to your kayak hanging on just by the power cord... well, it ain't pretty! I do remember one time that the blade came spinning past my thing at speed and it was probably a few centimeters from doing some serious damage to my leg.
So yes, please do secure it properly.

I used this mounting bracket to mount a watersnake 24T to my Profish 400.
Works well.
