I think there was a thread on this subject a while back but I couldn't find it. So I figured I'll start again. I once carried a Monocular but ditched it after getting serious eyestrain and headaches afterwards. I also use to carry binoculars but found I couldn't see properly because of the water movement.

I also use to fish with the ipod and headphones while out fishing. :$

For me, probably would be a huge winch of a reel (Penn Spinfisher 9500SS) when I first transitioned from not catching anything surfcasting to kayakfishing that we all know and love.
That was just before SBs and bait was it.

I would have laughed at the toy reels I use now to catch fish three times the weight of my surfcasting greats

I had an articulated piper lure. Was almost as bad as one of those wooden cobras you can sometimes find in open shops. Looked like it should have been magic. Fish didn't think so.

my fish buddy still using those ole 8500ss & 9500ss (black handle) when he fish regardless of the platform.
I have to admit those Penn are bulletproof.

For me, most useless item on kayak while fishing was spare paddle (no offence) :P

Yep. I'm on the verge of leaving my spare paddle on my trailer. It always gets in the way.

yep. my PVC livebait torpedoes would be up there on my list... Bloody irritating when they're forever knocking against the kayak in the waves and yes, always empty because I can't catch a livie either.

get one of those circle throw nets. can get your livebait in 2 minutes on the beach. only hassle is throwing it, but if you're ok looking like an utter clown you can do it right and half fill a 20l paint bucket in 1 throw.

Oh. Almost forgot. Pilchards. And those little fluoro pink shrimp scented marshmallows. And anything that comes with a warehouse tackle box. Oh those off brand soft plastics. Like pvc stuff. Smell like petrol.

LOL sounds like my brother in law...... we can be sitting in a boat literally rubbing shoulders and i will be catching fish and he would be lucky to catch seaweed. he would hand me his rod to do something and i would catch a fish on it within minutes... hand it back and the fish would get away LOL
I suppose its a good thing that he doesnt project his bad luck onto others though
gotta feel sorry for him though so he still comes out
