I have just received the following very sad news from Mrs DJ-400 and have been asked to share it with the KFNZ community. I have Mrs DJ-400s contact details, send me a PM if you want them.
It is with great sadness that I announce DJ-400's (Don) sudden passing on Friday 15th 2016 can you please put up a post to notify members as I have no idea of exactly who he knew in his kayak fishing adventures. I do know he knew Stephen Tapp from Viking kayaks.

His funeral is Thursday 21st January 2.00pm at Dempsey and Forrest, 208 Guyton Street, Wanganui.

Kind regards Mrs DJ-400 - Karen McDonald

My heart goes out to Karen and family, I only met Don once in person but interacted many times online, he was a great member of the KFNZ community.

Kayak and fish on Don!

Regards, Jason

Gee whiz, that's a big surprise. I had some good sessions with DJ400 at Papa Aroha. Top bloke. I did notice some months back that his yak was for sale, but I didn't think too much of it. He posted much less frequently recently. Condolences to his wife and family. He will be missed by those of us in the kayak fishing community who had the pleasure of spending some time with him.

So I was walking through Countdown in Tokoroa the other day and this chap in Hi viz says "Gidday Milkey".
I knew the face but didn't know the name. I meet a lot of people through work and kayaking so please forgive me if I don't remember.
So it was DJ400 and he was working out at my site, Lichfield, painting the new Milk Powder plant being built. We chatted about fishing and work and went on our way.
Last Friday at work I heard that the painters were having the day off as one of their colleagues had passed away. I didn't for one moment think it was DJ.
Just proves how precious life is and to get out there and give it a good nudge as you never know.
Condolences to the family.

I didn't know Don, other than through his posts, but it's always sad when we lose one of the group.
My sympathies to Karen and family.

RIP DJ.
