Greetings once again to the KFNZ family. Any suggestions for places to fish on the Whangaparoa peninsula in shelter from the forecasted SW tomorrow. Grateful to you as always. Trini.

Thanks Peace. Was thinking about ArmyBay but wasn't sure how sheltered it was. a bit hesitant heading out in new teritory in winds above 15kts but maybe I can judge it when I see it.

AB can get a bit of breeze coming through the 'flat gap' if its got too much southerly in it, but you can go to the west end of the beach and hide in the shadow of the cliffs. You can also head around to the east and shelter in the headland, but if it gets more westerly its a decent paddle back into it. Fishing AB you'd ideally want to be a few km straight out or further round past the reef.
I'm heading out from Big Manly around mid morning (after the footy) with another mate, not planning on getting too ambitious just drifting a km or two off the beach for some of the smaller snaps that are around there at the moment, exposure will be similar to AB but at little less chop and its shallower so easier to get your lures to the bottom in the faster drifts. Its actually mainly laziness as its my local and the weather doesn't look good enough to load the yak on the car! but you're welcome to join us.
