Named her "King's Landing" and hopefully that'll finally come true.

So far all I'll done is fit 2 rod holders, a bait knife and a starport for the flag.

Need some more rod holders at the back for traveling with and need to get the motor console with FF fitted from MadMike, then I'll be ready to go.

This weekend, if the motor console arrives by then, I'll take it out with my existing 40AH LifePo4 battery, run some tests and then decide whether 2 x 40AH batteries in parallel will be enough or I need to get a bigger AGM battery.

Yes, MadMike's fitted my fish finder to the motor console for me and is sending it back to me now. Once that arrives I'll do a few tests and certainly share my opinion here. I am excited about the bigger and faster motor, but not sure I'm going to have enough battery power to maintain it at full speed for very long.

Get lost damnit!!! :) My $800 Samsung phone takes great photos and I'm not THAT old.

It was evening on the first day that I got it and I just wanted to share some of my excitement... Not much to show at this stage and not much space for photos in the garage. Once I have the motor and battery and some more rod holders fitted I'll take some pics outside.

Wicked FOM!!!! Super stocked you've got it under way. Motors on a courier as we speak so you will probably see it tomorrow :)

Was out in mine today. Keep in mind with the bigger motor that while it goes well it uses more juice at full tit 45lb thrust @ 45Ah. I was running mine at about 3/4 throttle today and got roughly 4 hours out of a 110ah battery. its far far far more economical to run at 5km an hour than at 7-8...

Thanks for those stats Mike, I've struggled to find anything concrete on the web. In theory I should get very similar time from the larger motor as from the small 24lbs one if both at 5kph. This single 40AH battery has been enough for my size trips, so I should be okay with 80AH if I stick to 50-75% of max power. The temptation, of course, will be to use the power if you have it:)

grats on your new Battleship FoM!

i'd call it an aircraft carrier but i think the Pro Angler gets that title.

had a predator 13 for a quick bit... it's a great and stable yak... just that a short asian guy can't load it on top of a FJ Cruiser... and trailer was not an option for me.

love the red... hides the blood!

hahaha

Hey Mike, what have you done with rod holders at the back? I'll put one RailBlaza rod holder (or similar) at the back for trolling, but do like 2 more holders at the back to keep the rods in while traveling. I guess one of those triple rod holders from RailBlaza or Scotty on one side will work, but it seems slightly overpriced - $125 for the mount + 3 x $54 for the rod holders.
I liked my PVC solution on the P13, but the XL's design is just slightly different, making space for the battery I guess.
Any photos will be appreciated.

I have mounted additional Flush mounts into mine. The flat area beside where the battery fits was put there for this purpose. I have angled mine facing out on an angle. Will take a photo for you tonight. That allows you to have 4 rods in easy reach. I also have put flush mount rod holders facing forward in front of the seat. The idea with those plates is so you don't "have" to drill holes for those a little worried about doing so.. but they have put areas there so you can still have the flush mounts.

Cool... I noticed all that space, but I'm one of those guys who's not going to drill into the hull. I'll make some other plan then.

Hey, the console has arrived and it's looking great!!!

Awesome, great news. You could mound a scotty mount on those flat zones and have the same setup. you can get to the back of that area easily through the seal hatch under ya bum!

The weekend came and went and still the new kayak, named King's Landing, hasn't had her first voyage.

At least I got the transport rod holders sorted out at the back. Spray-painted PVC pipe same as on the last one, except that this time I had to drill into the hull to secure it. I think it looks good.

"Unfortunately" I had agreed too early to put the remainder of the earnings from my last private job into long-term savings. Asked the boss yesterday whether I could take a few hundred dollars extra for the 100AH LifePo4 battery I want to get, but I think her spending graces on kayak stuff is currently empty:) She loves fish, so I think I can fix that.
