Sweet well I'm sure we will be keen. I'm used to be a bit of a prick when it came to charity then met my Mrs and I'm all about it, in the right places. Sounds like a good mission. Where will the fish go into? Meet up point afterwards

I 'm only just back in town, but many thanks to Madyakka for getting the ball rolling. Technical has also asked me about another charity fish.....

Ward 12 North shore hospital is an acute mental health unit for the older adult (65 yrs +) However, while officially an acute unit, some people stay there for months. When we did this the last time, one patient had been on the ward for nearly 12 months and another for more than 6 months.

Two years ago, a big bunch of us caught 27 snapper that were donated to the ward. The filleting went on for some time and was of huge interest to many of the patients who came and watched (me, two staff members - who had never filleted before and the husband of one of the staff members - who is no longer able to assist). The next day, lunch was fish, chips from the local chippie and coleslaw from the hospital. One of the off duty staff members came in to do the cooking - she wrapped up many tin foil parcels with onion and herbs and cooked them on the ward BBQ.
The patients - and staff - were still talking about for some weeks later. It really brightened the day for many.

There is a post here somewhere that someone better than me may be able to find the link.

I don't work at North shore hospital anymore, but before I left, the ward manager was asking if it would happen again - I can co-ordinate with them if there is enough interest???

Yes - Me and my chilly bin will be there....hopefully I might even catch something to go in it (given my luck so far..... ;) )

It would be good if there was some assistance with the filleting

Everyone is a genius.

But if you judge a fish
on its ability to climb a tree.
it will live its whole life believing it is stupid.

The EAKFC has a club day at NN the same day, so you may have some more volunteers
