But does it vibrate?

Is that base to the seat fairly rigid? How does it go in the 4.3 with the seat recess that the current pad slots into?

Sorry HLD no built in vibration but if you should put something in one of the rear pockets... Whatever floats your boat really

Yes the seat pad if firm but not so stiff it won'f form to a kayak including 4.3 :y:

Looks pretty comfy... Would it fit a FnD?

8) Looks great but still hasn't got provision for thigh straps (or foot pockets) to get proper control and power transfer to the actual Kayak.
Take a good look at successful Ski and kayak designs that operate in surf and such and the weight is not all on one pressure point (the seat).
The fact you can work your legs for propulsion and get circulation in the leg drive also alleviates the need to have bulk padding , in fact most skis and Kayaks have minimal padding as it encourages better body rotation when paddling.
Probably find this exacerbates poor posture and Sciatica from slumping in the seat.
The sliding footrests also negate proper technique, basically a lazy boy chair for drifting around and does nothing for correct posture and thus efficiency.
When did you last see a bike with an armchair seat?

Just went out into the garden and took a pic.

You can ride it, too:

(Thigh straps don't attach to the seat, you'd want them on the hull or you'd still fall out - seat attached to you ;) )

@PS Which SOT Kayak seats on the market today have built in thigh braces? Keen to see how it's done... or are you saying it would be a good idea to build them in?

You've omitted all the other suggestions , didn't say that at all ,HLD did.
But yeah-optional extras as per everything else and the Surfski type have them already don't they?
Others have said they like the foot pockets like skis have too , and they help.
The solid footrest is a biggy but would need redesign on what is fitted standard.

Hey Mental ..... you say you have tested it yourself for a while now .
How did you find it compared to the 4.3 fold down seat ?
I have no problems with the fold down seat , i just wondering how it compares comfort wise ect .
Oh i have no problems if you reply via your Mental forum name either

Having owned a stealth and seen the range of surf ski's made by them not one of them had a provision for thigh straps nor anywhere to even tether them, they do how ever come with foot slings which are cool as till you fall out and your foot gets stuck in them... I think even the person I saw using them fell out and had issues with that aspect. good for seasoned pro's like yourself that never fall out though I would say, but not for mortals like myself.

Foot rest however in the surf I agree with you. no good having one knee right up and the weight transfered to the wrong side of the Yak. I am looking at the Alternative options for toe controls at the moment because of this. Good as for normal conditions though that most people paddle in.

Thanks Mental, I have residual back problems and I am always looking for a 'floating armchair'.

I have a couple of questions if you don't mind: -

1) Will it fit on my Espri?
2) Does the center pocket close securely enough for surf crossings?
(my tackle box currently goes in my seat pocket, which zips up)

5 hours on the water is my current limit with a standard seat.
