Hey guys, now that we have an official presence, lets get our
together and see if we can organise a paddle. If we can't get together on the water then maybe we could get together for a barbie and a chance to swap fishing tales. Anybody keen?

Its long overdue I recon! I'm keen to see who we can round up for a spot of fishing and finish off with BBQ. If the weather stumps us for getting offshore we can shortcut to the beers and BBQ. We should pick an easy launch spot like Karetane or Shag Point or Nth end of Waikouaiti Beach maybe. That way you can drive right up to the water as well as having good spots for a BBQ afterwards? Have you got any spots in mind?

Karitane would be good, then the anklebiters could body board while we headed off around the rocks to see what we could scare up. One day I'm gonna have to get a canoe rack, instead of just strapping it to the roof and hoping my roof doesn't get too dented.

Sweet, if there is a bit of wind, Karetane gives us a couple of options as we can have the BBQ and
on the beach or on the grass past the boat ramp.

I was thinking of going straight out through the surf at the far end of the beach, the seacliff end. Much of a muchness I suppose. Apparently we have bcome the only kayak fishermen in Otago. Come on all you lazy
's say hello so we can organize something.

Are you guys still keen? I am not sure if the weather is going to hold out for us, but so long as it is not too crappy I say at least meet up and say hi to each other. I have family to organize so I expect we will miss an early start. What time did you guys imagine us heading out?

10th should work, will post on Kayak fishing Otago blog/facebook aswell. Hopefully SWMBO doesnt behead me as I have already paddled about 140km during the last month. You guys got a time in mind? I'm more keen on an avo mission so we can do BBQ aswell. Just a suggestion but if we are after blue cod Shag point is usually more productive!? There is supposed to be a reasonable south swell on sunday which would suit launching from beach on north side of shag point better than Karitane.

True, but I am limited in the distance I can travel with my kayak, due to a lack of kayak rack, and I would like to check out a little bit of my local coast as well. It looks like there are some good kelp beds not too far further around the coast. As for time, early afternoon suits me as well as any other time.
