Went out to kina last night. And the temp on fish finder was 23 Pete. Like a warm bath on my legs. Heaps of small snapper about getting then on jig and bait prob caught about 15 and kept 2. Great fun.
once the water goes past 18/19 i find bigger snapper are out 14m+. just too warm n lacking oxygen? kingis seem to like it tho - plenty of rats around

Hi ranson.
I was pretty close in. In around 4 mtr of water. Just got to find a bit of structure/feature out there.
Where do you launch to fish the back beach at tahunanui? Any tips for fishing there?
Cheers.
I launch down beside the motor camp, I think it's parkers road, I would fish the hole in right in front of the car park, you can see it on navonics.

A hour an half either side High or low tide right on dawn or dusk.

The snapper be moving to that depth cause it gets cooler the deeper you go so at 14 meter Mark the water should blue of and be cooler

Thanks for info on tahunanui ranson.

No set day. I'll have to earn some brownie points with the misses. Possibly one aft/evening this next week or weekend. I'll flick you a message on here and see if you are keen when I get the chance.

Any reports of tuna up there yet?
Super early I know but with the weather the way it’s been and the water temp higher than normal they must be lurking around. Surely?
