your fish pete is a slimy / blue mackerel . great bait / eating.
i'd start with okiwi that place is silly fishing. pete.
As for john dory i think they live in much deeper water in the south.
Tuna your looking at a 15km paddle from okiwi bay to 40m where they frequent in summer
cool to see some warehou around too

Best option for Tuna would be launch at Totaranui and head north. Serious water though.

Yip well a bit of local seasonal knowledge 'ill get you on to fish in these shallows epicskwid.
the otha fulla and petecanaan will be fishing bayside, weather permitting, through labour weekend onwards RJ so if your up for sharing some local knowledge maybe you could show us some new territory.

I'm only a visitor to yours waters, I get down to Motueka or Golden Bay about once every year or so to visit family so I have no local knowledge to speak of as far as fishing goes

I'm taking my rifle for a walk over Labour Weekend and the following week so I won't be around, but hopefully reasonable numbers of snapper will be in the Bay by then.
