Same model. Not sure how these work with registration in Australia and how it would effect the timing for SAR to kick into gear.

Warranty could be an issue having to send it back to au, but they should be pretty reliable given the lifespan is 5+ years.

Makes no different to timing, there was a post about it a while back.

Appearantly NZ beacons are monitored from a joint control centre in Canberra anyway...

That pic of your yak from the rescue helicopter puts it in perspective. If there was white caps they may have had a bit more of a mission locating you.

These take the search out of search and rescue.
