Despite a few set backs I managed to get to Mahia this weekend, and had a good weekends camping & fishing . I rocked up there with my brother , who was visiting from Perth, and we sampled the pub food , and a few beverages ! Fishing was slow , and no one seemed to be doing that well. It was full moon , and there was a significant swell that restricted us to Waikokopu on Saturday .
Sunday saw us up early and fishing the North side, on an out going tide , and still a bit lumpy .Too chunky to anchor , so I drift fished for a couple of hours , and bagged a trio of good sized kahawai. That was our lot ! we did however spend a good few hours soaking in the Morere hot pools , and confirmed that the Nuhaka paua fritters are the best in the world ! Good trip !
