I'm going to fish Kaiaua (out by the mussel farms) Saturday morning, agree conditions look good other than a possible few spits of rain. Plan is to be on the road 4am which should get me on the water around 6am.
I also finally got my A into G and purchased a VHF so if anyone is in the area will keep on say channel 8.

Heading up to Papa Aroha on Monday for the week, will be taking the yak and boat so will have to miss this weekend
But agree conditions are looking great (not so much for the rest of the week to my annoyance).

Fishing soft bait only. I tend to fish in the areas outside the farms, I'll send you a pm with spot X! I find tying up to the farms and dealing with current and the lines a bit of a pain.

Fishing for me was slow at best, kept 2 mid 30 snaps, and caught heaps of undersized fish, tried at 7m, 14m and then farms. Was still a good paddle, and was calm the whole morning, great to catch up with a few guys from the club, great thing you guys have started here.

Yes it was good catching up guys even though fishing was hard. I managed to keep 3 snapper and 1 gurnard so enough for tea at least. Phil had an 8 pound snapper which looked impressive.
