Surf Launch Goes Wrong...

Grab some popcorn, dim the lights, sit down on the couch and watch some kayak fishing videos.

Actually I found the one after that way more interesting and alarming.

I know I'm somewhat calamity prone, but even I think this guy needs to take up fly fishing or golf or something.

I've watched that a couple of times before. You have to wonder what was going through his head each time he gets bowled and loses his kayak or gear. And why was he launching there, right next to the rocks!

I just want to yell 'take your time!' at the screen, as he never seems to take a moment to get fully reset before he makes another attempt. Drag the kayak up above the waves, fetch your remaining gear, watch for a gap, and try again!

This is the thing, right. When I saw that video months ago I think I saw a shorter version of it and I was convinced the guy was drunk. Now looking at him talking to his mate beforehand and how his movement gets progressively worse as he gets knocked over multiple times by the kayak, I'm not so sure anymore. I just think he was exhausted and should not have kept trying to go out.

Any 'FOOL' who stands behind a kayak with an incoming wave deserves to be punished. 'Bloody Dick' . He must of been off his trolley..

Chap at Waihi beach a few years back come home from fishing went to retrieve his boat a bit of a lift out was evident, but know he still stood on the bottom side of his boat. Wave came in hit side of boat as it would, punched it back onto idiot yep he had one badly broken leg. You would have to be one big fool to stand behind your yak/boat with an incoming wave...

Started laughing at the start and felt relieved i wasnt the only one but ended up feeling sorry and concerned for the poor fella..should of done things one at a time..kayak pulled way beyond waves then the rest of the gear i think...good lesson for me anyway

BIG BIG no no launch with your rods up through that stuff. :x Always have my rods into my tubes and clipped to the side of the yak your asking to break them otherwise. i havent been nailed with all my gear on before like that mainly because i play it safe!
I'm trying to imagine the landing he had on the way back in now :x
