It can be a bit of fun, but does get boring pretty quickly.....

Remember that it's illegal to "keep" any Koi Carp as they are prolific breeders and DOC want to prevent the spread of the eggs.

If you shoot them, you're supposed to kill them ( whack on the head) and then bury them.....

Best time to get them is during the spring floods, with my spot of choice was the area in / around Whangamerino in the Waikato, though any of the lakes / rivers in and around the area have them
You can also join the NZ Bowhunters Society....every year thy used to host the "world" Koi Carp Champs in the Waikato.....
The biggest year I attended we had about 100-120 and we collected 9.5 ton of carp in one weekend...that's how prolific they are!

Yes...last time I saw him I went LB fishing with him and he lived on the hill above Russell looking over Russell on one side and Long Bay (??) on the other side !
