From my wonder years as a guide in Taupo and central plateau... Sometimes miss the crystal clear waters and the sound of big running rivers. there's something about it that soothes the soul. Have to plan a mission down to the area again in the near future, some of those Otamagakau shallows fish are starting to call my name. will be great sport from a Kayak

A lowly mid teens pound Brown. there just such a stunning fish huh.

I'd be keen on a trip to the big O. Never fished it before being land based but jigging off a yak would be a blast!

pass on the jigging at big O. lots a very shallow water with plenty of weed. Fly fishing in the shallows works a treat though especially since the lakes main food source is insect based.
