Looks like we may be going to Lake Taupo for a few days. Worth taking the kayak down?

Will I see a trout or will it be a repeat of my total failure on Lake Rotorua? :)

Any tips?

Drop Miniyak a PM....he's down that way and I think he's keen for some fresh water fishing....he also looks after a campground so that may be handy as well !

Other way winch. they go deeper in summer and shallower in winter...

Look for drop offs around river mouths etc but study your licence as there are rules of what you can and cant do. This time of year the fish start to build up in and around the river areas in Taupo ready to spawn. as the Barometer drops they then move into the lower rivers ready to run once the rivers start to rise... Have a look at areas like Waitanui Tauranga/taupo, Tongariro delta etc etc.
