My curse with lake Okataina is broken, I have been trying to catch a trout on this lake on and off for over 15years. From boats to fly fishing and now form a kayak I have finally done it! :)
Every other lake in the Rotorua district hasn't been a problem but this fish on Okataina have beaten me every time until this morning :y:

Hopefully lots more to come this lake is a kayakers paradise

I was jigging, used 2 size 10 flies spaced about 600mm apart. 1 fly was a Parsons glory the other a ginger mick.

WELL DONE on breaking your curse  and a PB for that lake
Everyone is a genius.

But if you judge a fish
on its ability to climb a tree.
it will live its whole life believing it is stupid.

awesome. always interested to read freshwater reports. think i'll give that lake a miss though after my abysmal performance on an "easy" lake (rotorua)!
