A self-built yak is definitely on my life time to do list.

Would this style of construction be suited to a fishing yak.
A stitched ply system would be the best for a sot fishing kayak

Really enjoying this build (as someone who cuts themself on a pencil sharpener...)

What angle did you go for for the bow in the end? Looks very close to the Tahe...

I think that when you see this one and the Tahe side by side you may be surprised :D ;) ;)
I hope to have the boat off the jig in about three days more work so i can turn it over and finish the keel and install the bottom stringers as they were to hard to access from the top with the strong back in the way.i have been working on the coaming while all the glue at the sharp end sets.

Cockpit coaming now roughed out ready for final shaping and sanding prior to fitting to the hull 26 hours into build.next step is to finish the bow,the do the stern and then the frame can come off the jig ,be turned over and the last stringer fitted and the keel shaped to suit ,

Still an awful lot of sanding to be done in preparation for the skin once the wood work is finished and it all has to be sealed prior to skinning. i estimate that the sanding and sealing will take a couple of days as i cannot afford to leave any sharp bits that would tear the skin. i will probably seal the wood with a couple coats of 2pot varnish.

Free from the jig at last. The bow is almost finished the stern looks a lot more complicated so it will have to wait until i get a full day off work as i do not want to rush it.I could not resist running an old sheet over the frame to see what it will look like and i was quite pleased .So for the next six days it will just have to sit all alone in the shed. Then i will have to glue the last stringer in place and leave that for 24 hours to set.I am expecting the stern to take about 4 hours. coming up to 30 hours work to this point.

Give the guys at Rasdex a call with the dimensions of the cockpit, it should be very close to a standard keyhole
I can send my keyhole deck down for you to try?
