Look for a forum used by people who use the type of boat you are after.

Few/no people will be using a multi-sport or triathlon boat for fishing.

Good luck, intermediate boats are ok for novice, the swallows etc are good but price is higher than some of the others, I used a vo epic for a while, any of the older Andrew martin yaks etc will do fine, speed wise fast cruise was about 11 kph gps, try and get one with a spray skirt and airbags with it as a lot of the races require them fitted. A grade 2 cert is required for some river races also. Price wise start looking from about 700 up or splash out if balance is good and get a jk :y:

Check cockpit volume for body size also, google model name and there's some pages with boat comparisons.
