This will be our first formal meetup of the website and forum, we will have a fish on the Saturday, with a weigh in at the camp to see who did the best on the day, we'll then have a BBQ a few beers and tell some tall tales.

If I can arrange it we'll have some sort of prize draw on the Saturday evening.

Staying over night is optional, if you just want to come up for the day and drive home in the evening that's cool too :) For those of us that overnight we can have another fish in the morning...

Update - August 2nd:
This is going to be a no payment event, you don't have to pay to attend (other than your own costs of getting there and accommodation, etc).

We'll have some awards for the fishing on the Saturday and also a few from the forum...

I'll supply some sausages for the BBQ and may be a few beers, if you want any other food or drinks etc then it will be up to you to bring your own.

I'll try and get some products from sponsors and we'll have a prize draw/raffle for these on the Saturday night.

We'll keep it informal this year and see how it goes, if we want to turn it into more of a formal full on fishing comp next year then we'll cross that bridge when we come to it :)

Update: August 11th

Just to make sure this doesn't drop off anyone's radar ;)

The camp ground is booked, had a call form them on Saturday evening, they are welcoming us all in, we have the use of the BBQ area and they inside rec room so we can "keep nice and warm". I'm sure us hardened fishermen will be able to cope with a bit of outdoors ;)

We also have a few sponsors on board so there will be some prizes!

Also may have a stink boat on the water with us acting as a safety boat although I've told him to stay away from us unless we need him ;)

Well that's about it for now, will update again soon :)

Update: August 13th

Rob Fort has told me he is intending on attending the event and has volunteered to give a bit of a seminar if people are keen. Rob will also have the Slam DVD on show for people to take a look at etc

Cheers, Mental

Now that my leave has been approved if any one wants to go up for the day and would like assistance with travel i could take the trailer up.It would be an early start but as i often start work work at 4am i am sure my body will cope.
cheers Glint.
ps If anyone is in contact with the camping ground can they please enquire if there is a chance for a small fee that those of us just making the event a day trip could utilize the parking and toilet facilities etc enabling us to keep together as a group for the bbq etc and could we pay on the day. :?:

Mental for those camping is it worth us booking together? or just each do thier own thing?
Just think it may be a good idea for all the fishos to be together rather than spread around the camp...

Looking forward to this!
Me and my partner Jennie are keen.
Went out with the Canoe and Kayak group this morning at St. Heliers. A group of about 25 ranging from first timers to old timers.
Not allot of fish but the weather was kind and it's great to meet fellow kayers.

Leave this with me for now, the camp management are going to get back to me this week, we'll probably all book our own but I'm seeing if we can get a group discount :)

The Martins Bay campground isn't that big that we'll too far apart.

Mental, according to the wife, Friday 25th is last day of school b4 holidays so expect busy roads from Auck - Warkworth on Friday but assume this is too early in the year for the camp to be busy for holiday makers. chip'n

Sounds like a good event Mental, you are doing well to organise this. When do you need to know numbers for camping, any deposit required? I am keen as mustard and have plenty of time to score enough brownie points for a leave pass from the better half :)
A bad day fishing is better than a good day at work!!!

Personal Bests -
Snapper - 4.5kg - Papa Aroha
All other species - watch this space :) - keep watching if you like to paint drying :)
