As you say not looking good at this stage .My mates at the airport reckon 60% chance of rain and rough seas for friday which may rule out the night fish.Sat looking a bit better but the residual swell may be a concern.Fingers crossed.

You guys, there's a 40% chance of no rain...

We should be able to find somewhere around Martins Bay / Kawau / Mahurangi that will allow us to hide from the wind swell :)

whenever I check the weather at the start of the week and think it's on to go fishing it at the weekend it usually turns to custard, so here's hoping that the reverse is true. As for the wife staying in a tent, I just get the look if I even suggest it :o apparently she has been there once too often

Probably a bit early to make the call still but should we be looking at a rain date..? :?

Or are we all hardened fisherman and a little rain doesn't put us off?

Rain I can handle.
It's the wind and the swell I don't like.
Don't want to "lose any beans" out there.

Yea Im comitted too,
At the end of the day if we had a rain date there is nothing to say it wouldnt be bad on that date, and we cant just keep waiting until the day before to make the call.
If some of the day trippers dont come up because of the weather, we will still hae a good time, having a yarn, is rob giving a bit of a seminar?, and we will find somewhere to wet a line im sure.

Yup, will be there regardless, unless of course there is a gale. Same thoughts, don't mind the rain but wind does make things a little uncomfortable.

talking about wind the symbol with three little lines at the end is good right......

I am in the same boat. :!: For me leave is almost impossible to get, so having some approved i am going to use it. Kawau and the other islands tend to shelter the bay a bit but 30 knots :?:
could we still use Martins bay as a base camp and perhaps fish the sheltered side of the Tawharanui Peninsula ie. Christian bay, Waikauri, bay Jones bay or Scow point ,returning to the camp at Martins Bay in the late afternoon to kill a sausage or two. :?: Perhaps we can have a council of war on the Friday night.

cheers glint

Yep as I said before there are plenty of places to get out of the wind/swell, now where did I put that map?

Er.... :|

Violent storm heading NZ's way
New 4:33PM Tuesday Sep 22, 2009

A storm which has uprooted hundreds of trees, hammered crops and dented car bonnets with three centimetre hail stones in Australia, is heading this way.

The fierce storm is also blowing desert winds into Queensland, pushing temperatures to 40 degrees.

Weatherwatch.co.nz says the massive low responsible for Australia's extreme weather is expected to deepen as it moves into the Tasman Sea.

Head weather analyst Philip Duncan says the storm is likely to have its biggest impact in New Zealand on Thursday, with rain warnings likely across a number of western regions, possibly as far north as the Central Plateau.
