If you are in no rush then its a good experience. Gravel roads and bush clad hills can get a bit boring for some, so depends on who is in the car with ya.

It's a great drive, and there's a good midway stop on it at the pub.
You're aware that while it affords one the momentary illusion of satisfaction, the spewing of bile is never a permanent solution.

Yep, done it. 900 km round trip, 12.3 km / l average fuel use. 71.5 km/hr average.
Tuurned West at the Pohokura saddle and took Junction Rd all the way in to Inglewood, loads of gravel , and slips / wash outs. Heaps of feral goats seen ... I can now say " been there...done that!"
Oh...the new kitten is cute too. :)

Did the forgotten highway in January. Great drive through an area with an interesting and largely 'forgotten' history and the Whanagmomona pub is a great spot. Nice food own label beer, lovely beer garden.

Been through it a couple of times last year and the last time stopped for coffee at the pub. It was election day for a new President. Anyone know who or what was elected? After a goat, a dog, and a bloke there was the threat it might be a :o woman :o !!!!

Nothing wrong with the road, just an ordinary road with a bit of gravel but pleasant to drive.
