Probably another week before it is worth checking the forecast for any accuracy. That won't stop me checking swellmap maps 3 or 4 times a day from now though. At the moment it is forecasting a moderate SE offshore wind which is ok in close but not ideal for out wider.Epicskwid wrote:What do you think the weather will do? Its a long trip from hawkes bay .

I don't want to jinx it so will just say it is looking 'ok' for next weekend at this stage. Offshore winds from about wednesday should flatten the sea by the weekend.

Looking good for the weekend, if you're waiting till the last minute on the weather to decide if you're entering it would be a good idea to get them in now. Its looking like the boys have pulled another one out of the hat weather wise.
Good luck to all who have entered.
PS: cave tours can be arranged by appointment only

Well done to all those prize winners, awesome event, with some of that awesome Taranaki weather. Unfortunately some gear was uplifted by people who may have taken it unsure it was theirs or other wise. Some boys who fished north borrowed a chilly bin ( esky for those from the western island) left it in the marque for the owner to pick up after prize giving to find it gone. Also a Viking Hoodie was removed from its resting place at prize giving. The gentleman ( aussie) comes from Melbourne every year to this comp it would be better if he came back, with a few more. (aussies) I would like to think that us kayak fisherman are a fairly decent and honest bunch of blokes, (fisherman / honesty??) but we look after each other, so some one knows where the gear went, please can we have it returned in the same state it was, yours in fishing, tight lines, Rob Gedye, Taranaki Kayak Fishing Club President.

Thanks Rob, I put Wonderboy's chilly bin on the top of a Redbull leaner by where the filleters set up second time, this was just after prize giving.
Walked into Butlers to tell Wonderboy, no longer than a couple of minutes later....gone.
It was a Rubbermaid, mainly red with a white lid. Has a bungee loop to secure lid. The loop is loose.
I'm hoping someone picked it up accidentally and we can have it returned without issue.
