Hmm good point as it's called the "Auckland Snapper Challenge" but the rules say:
When and Where
Fishing dates are March 25th - April 3rd 2016. You can submit your catches during this period.

You can fish anywhere you want except areas where fishing is banned, such as marine reserves.
And actually myself I'll probably be out of Auckland that week fishing a little further north... but I'm pretty sure you have to be at prize giving to get any prizes which is in Auckland (and I'll be back by then).

Hi All,

You may have seen a post saying the comp was postponed (now deleted), I have spoken to the event owners and this is NOT true, the comp is proceeding as planned.

Cheers, Mental

Just come through via email from the event organisers >
Announcement
It is with regret that we announce a postponement in the Auckland Snapper Challenge.
Due to lower ticket sales we are pushing the Auckland Snapper Challenge out to October 21st to 30th

The reason for the change:
1. Snapper is a topical issue in the Auckland region – we are going to consider renaming the contest.

2. At this time of the year the fishing calendar is very full.

3. We also operate the Beach and Boat Fishing Contest and the date of the Snapper Challenge is too close to this event.

4. We are introducing four new sections to the contest – Kahawai, Trevally, Kingfish and John Dory.

5. We want to take the emphasis off Snapper.

6. We also have three major sponsors wishing to become involved in the contest – the new dates give us time to integrate the new name, format and sponsors.

7. We will introduce a weigh in section – the weigh station will be located at our new sponsor’s dry stack – Mount Wellington Marine – Dray Stack East Auckland.

Options for Ticket Holders

1. Retain your ticket for the new date and receive:

· Each month leading up to the new event your ticket is in the draw for a minimum of $2000 in prizes

· Receive 6 month membership to our new all year round on line fishing contest –Let’s Get Fishing – weekly, monthly and annual prize awards.

· AND we will issue one free ticket for you to giveaway

2. Request a refund

We apologise for any inconvenience caused by this announcement.
